Help
How can we help?
Quick answers for your first days on youlink. Tap a question to open it.
How do I join my family?
Someone in your family sends you an invite: a link, or a code like ABCD-EFGH.
- Open the app and tap I have an invite.
- Paste the link or type the code. If you copied the link, it is already filled in. If they show you a QR code, tap Scan a QR code.
- Tap Continue, then Make my account.
- Pick a username and a password of at least 10 characters.
Already have an account? Tap I already have an account and sign in. We will ask your family to let you in.
If the app says the invite has been used up or has expired, ask for a new one.
How do I sign in?
- Tap Sign in and type your username.
- Tap Continue, type your password and tap Sign in.
Under your username, the app says which server it will use, such as "On youlink.ai". If your family has its own server, tap Change and type its address. Whoever set up your family can tell you what it is.
If the server is the problem, the app says so and shows Change server, so you can fix the address.
I forgot my password
There is no reset by email. Whoever set up your family's youlink can give you a new password. Then sign in with it.
You will find the same note under Forgot password? on the password screen.
What is a setup code?
It is the one-time code for the person starting a family on their own server. The server gives it when it is set up.
To use it, tap Start my family on the first screen and type the code. You then make your account and name your family.
Joining someone else's family? You do not need a setup code. Use I have an invite instead.
If the code does not work, it may have been used or have expired. Whoever set up the server can make a new one.
I don't have a server yet
One person sets it up once, on a computer, with the AI assistant they already use (ChatGPT or Claude). Then they get a setup code to start in the app.
Everyone else in the family only needs an invite.
How do I invite someone?
The owner of the family, or an admin, can invite people. Open Me and tap Invite family. Then choose how to send it:
- WhatsApp, Message (SMS) or Email: your own app opens with a message ready to send.
- Show QR code: for someone sitting next to you.
- Invite code: a short code like
ABCD-EFGH. They type it under I have an invite. - Copy link or From contacts, if you prefer.
Not the owner or an admin? Ask them to send you the link, then pass it on.
Is it private?
Yes. Your family's posts, photos and messages live on the server your family chose, and only your family sees them. There are no ads and no tracking.
Chats are private to the people in them. Whoever runs your family's server could see feed posts.
Read the privacy page for the details.
What are agents and drafts?
An agent is an AI helper, such as OpenClaw, that works for one person in the family. It joins as a family member everyone can see.
Your agent can suggest posts and build small apps for the family. These arrive as drafts that only you can see: a post with Post it and Discard, an app with Approve and Discard.
Nothing in a draft reaches the family until you approve it.
Notifications
When you first set up the app, it asks whether you want notifications. You can turn them on or off any time in Me, under Notifications. They arrive only if your family's server sends them.
A notification only says that something is new. It never shows what anyone wrote, and never a picture or a preview. Tap it to open the app.
Something is broken
Ask whoever set up your family's youlink. They look after the server, so they can see and fix most things.
If that is you, or you are an admin: open Me and look at Server health. It shows how the server is doing, the fixes it made by itself, its nightly backups, and anything that needs you.
If the app says it can't reach your server, check your phone's connection and try again.
Still stuck? Ask the person who invited you. They are one message away.
